In the fall of 1984, commissioned by God, Pastors Thomas and Esther St. Louis moved from Michigan with a vision to plant New Covenant Universal Church in Cambridge—known today as New Covenant Church of Cambridge (NCCC).
By the late 1980s, membership grew rapidly, and the church prayed for a permanent place of worship. In 1990, through the faithful giving of members and supporters, NCCC purchased its first building in Cambridge. As the congregation outgrew this space, they worked tirelessly to pay off the mortgage early and save for a larger facility.
In its early years, NCCC met in various locations—including a YMCA, rented rooms, other church buildings, school auditoriums, and even public parks when no indoor venues were available. In harsh weather, the church van became an alternative meeting space.
